The Affiliates of AMI in the United States (EAA, MAA, NAMTA and AMI/USA) have been actively collaborating for several years to consider opportunities for improved services and efficiencies to best serve the AMI community. The Board of Directors of AMI/USA and the Montessori Administrators Association (MAA) are pleased to announce that, as a result of this collaboration, they have agreed to consolidate into one organization. As of March 1, 2019, the functions of MAA will be transferred to AMI/USA. AMI/USA will continue and expand on the much needed services to support administrators. The administrators’ programming at the refresher course, online forum, document vault, mentorship program and summer retreat are examples of the valuable services provided by MAA since they began in 2007. As a result of this consolidation, the AMI/USA board will expand to include two representatives selected by MAA. Former MAA trustees, Michele Shane and James Moudry, will serve in this role to guide this important transition. More specific details regarding this consolidation are included in a FAQ document with this correspondence and can also be found on the MAA and AMI/USA websites.
AMI/USA and MAA are confident that together, we will be better positioned to serve the needs of administrators and increase the value of membership for everyone. This consolidation also aligns the affiliates work in the United States with the vision of AMI global - to support the natural development of human beings, enabling them to become the transforming agents in society leading to a more harmonious and peaceful world.
The AMI/USA Board looks confidently towards a future focused on advancing AMI education in the United States, through the support of parents, teachers, schools, and training centers; through collaboration with AMI and their US affiliates, EAA and NAMTA, and through partnerships with those in the greater Montessori community and beyond. We invite you to continue to work beside us in this vital mission.
